Conceptualizing Implementation Practice Capacity in Community-Based Organizations Delivering Evidence-Based Behavioral Health Services

Due to the significant prevalence of mental and substance use disorders in United States, push for development implementation evidence-based practices (EBPs) behavioral health has risen exponentially last 30 years. Community-based organizations (CBOs) (i.e., self-governing and/or not-for-profit) have been recognized as important providers services. However, there are gaps literature surrounding CBO capacity—ability adopt, implement, sustain an EBP- capacity training initiatives (e.g., data-based decision-making) that specifically target CBOs practice. The purpose this exploratory study was assess how individuals working within Florida conceptualize practice what is needed reach adequate utilize EBP. This qualitative consisted semi-structured interviews with eight administrators nine practitioners currently employed by who deliver services (N = 17). Results showed certain characteristics such leadership, culture/climate, collaboration/communication, decision-making evaluation, funding were all areas capacity. Implications future research focused on conceptualizing building context community settings will be discussed.
